About
Fuell was a Madrid-based expense-management startup serving small and medium-sized businesses with a unified platform combining intelligent corporate cards and expense-management software. Its differentiation was real-time spending visibility and automation of reporting, budgeting, reconciliation, tax refunds, and related back-office work; Factorial acquired Fuell in 2023.
Market
Fuell competed in the European B2B expense-management fintech/SaaS market, positioning itself for SMEs by combining expense software with intelligent corporate cards rather than offering expense reporting alone. Its differentiation was the integrated workflow for employee spending, real-time reporting, receipt processing, and VAT recovery. Fuell was acquired by Factorial on September 27, 2023, including its technology, customers, and team; getfuell.com now presents Factorial's broader all-in-one business-management platform, so Fuell is no longer best treated as an independent standalone vendor.
Fuell targets small and medium-sized businesses, particularly companies that need tighter control over employee spending and expense administration. Its primary users and buyers are HR managers, finance professionals, and other teams responsible for corporate expenses, reporting, reimbursements, and tax recovery.

Problem
Fuell addressed the fragmented, time-consuming work of controlling employee spending: collecting receipts, preparing expense reports, approving reimbursements, reconciling accounts, and maintaining visibility into company-wide purchases. The pain was especially acute for SMEs whose employees travel, buy regularly for the business, or manage online subscriptions. The economics were administrative time and money, weaker spending control, and missed VAT recovery opportunities.
The killer use case was replacing expense sheets with a controlled card-based workflow. An employee could pay with a physical or virtual corporate card, upload the receipt in the app, and let the company monitor the transaction, categorize it, reconcile it, and recover eligible VAT without chasing paper invoices.
Product / Service
Fuell combined intelligent physical and virtual corporate cards with expense-management software in a unified B2B SaaS platform. Transactions were captured in real time, while companies could set employee-specific spending limits, manage approvals, automate expense reporting, digitize receipts and invoices, and synchronize data with accounting or ERP systems such as Holded and Navision.
The delivery model was subscription software connected to corporate payment cards. This reduced manual data entry and administrative overhead while giving finance and HR teams a current view of spending; its receipt and invoice automation could also help companies recover VAT from business expenses.
Market
Fuell competed in fintech-enabled expense management, spend management, and corporate-card software for SMEs, initially serving businesses in Spain and Portugal. Its comparison set included Payhawk and Spendesk, as well as broader corporate-card and spend platforms such as Brex, Mercury, and Ramp. The category value proposition was to combine payments, controls, reporting, and accounting workflows rather than leave companies dependent on spreadsheets and disconnected cards.
Fuell was commercially deployed rather than merely pre-revenue: it reported customers including Capchase, Aloha Poke, Tuk Tuk, Scalpers, Pompeii, TheVentureCity, and Playflow, and forecast more than 300 companies using the service by the end of 2021. It also reported 250% annual growth and raised institutional capital, including a €1 million round and later Y Combinator backing. However, as of August 2026 it is no longer an independent startup: Factorial acquired Fuell's technology, customers, and team in September 2023, with the acquisition announced in October, so getfuell.com is now associated with Factorial's broader business-management offering rather than a standalone Fuell operation.

Fuell’s documented revenue model was SaaS subscriptions for its expense-management platform. Its product also issued physical and virtual corporate cards, which fed employee spending data into the software for automated tracking and reporting.
