About
Material Depot is a design-first home materials platform serving homeowners, architects, and interior designers with tiles, laminates, wall panels, plywood, and other interior products. It differentiates through curated design collections, online discovery and fulfillment, physical experience centres, transparent pricing, and responsive delivery.
Market
Material Depot competes in India’s fragmented home-interiors and decorative-materials market, covering discovery, sourcing, and procurement of products such as tiles, laminates, wall panels, plywood, sanitaryware, and hardware. It differentiates from generalist marketplaces and interior-service providers through design-led curation, direct manufacturer sourcing, supply-chain and inventory control, transparent pricing, predictable delivery, and an omnichannel model that combines online discovery with assisted purchasing at physical Experience Centres.
Material Depot primarily serves urban, design-conscious Indian homeowners—especially families furnishing 2BHK and 3BHK homes—as well as architects and interior designers sourcing materials for residential projects. Its ideal buyers value curated design choices, transparent pricing, predictable delivery, and assisted decision-making rather than price alone.

Problem
Indian home-materials buying is a high-stress, low-trust, supplier-led experience. Homeowners increasingly arrive with inspiration from Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube, but struggle to translate that vision into available, comparable materials; they often remain dependent on designers and cannot easily verify whether a product is in stock. The killer use case is a homeowner trying to turn a desired interior aesthetic into a real purchase of tiles, laminates, panels, flooring, or other finishes without the usual search, coordination, and availability friction.
The underlying economic pain is a fragmented supply chain and an inefficient discovery process. Customers must visit multiple suppliers, compare inconsistent options and pricing, and make consequential decisions without being able to visualize the finished result. Material Depot addresses this by making material discovery more design-led and by connecting inspiration more directly to sourcing and execution.
Product / Service
Material Depot is a design-first home-materials platform combining online discovery, visualization, and physical retail. Its catalogue spans decorative materials such as tiles, laminates, wallpapers, wall panels, quartz, wooden flooring, plywood, and related finishes. Customers can browse curated designs, shortlist products, use visualization tools, order samples, and mix and match materials before committing to a purchase.
The delivery model is omnichannel: customers discover and compare materials online, then visit experience centres to touch, feel, and buy with help from design experts. The company also provides product-selection, measurement, and material-matching guidance, doorstep delivery, and installation coordination through verified partners. By sourcing design-forward products from manufacturers and using online demand signals to launch designs in smaller batches, Material Depot aims to offer better choice, clearer pricing, faster decisions, and more reliable fulfilment.
Market
Material Depot competes in India’s decorative interior-materials, home-improvement, and design-commerce market. It is closer to a consumer-facing materials marketplace and omnichannel retailer than to an end-to-end interior-design-and-build company. Livspace and HomeLane are adjacent competitors, but Material Depot differentiates itself by focusing specifically on curating, pricing, visualizing, and supplying materials rather than delivering the entire design-and-construction project. An investor estimate reported by The Economic Times places the opportunity at roughly $14 billion.
The company is operating commercially rather than appearing pre-revenue. It was founded in 2022 and raised $10 million from Accel, Stellaris Venture Partners, and other investors in February 2026 to expand its technology, assortment, supply chain, and physical footprint. The Economic Times reported approximately 15,000 customers and three Bengaluru experience centres at that time, with plans for more than 30 centres and over 50,000 customers; Material Depot’s own pages separately advertise five stores, 10,000-plus home customers, 1,000-plus architects and designers, and a catalogue of at least 100,000 curated designs, while its LinkedIn profile cites 15,000-plus homes and 300,000 designer materials. These differing public counts point to rapid expansion and some reporting lag, but collectively indicate meaningful early traction.
